Driving Dubai’s economy is the Government planned
yet innovative approach to business. And the continual
investment in developing the city’s Hard and Soft
infrastructure to make it ‘business and investment
friendly’.
Transport links are world class, by sea, air and road.
Jebel Ali Port’s recently announced expansion that
will make it the largest port of its kind, although it
already handles vast quantities of container and other
traffic seamlessly. The port is the ideal centre for importation
and transshipment, and today it is home to over 2,000
companies from about 97 different countries.
Dubai International Airport, conveniently located in
downtown, is also undergoing further expansion, with the
creation of a dedicated terminal for Emirates, customized
to handle the double-decker Airbus A-380 being delivered
in 2008.
Meanwhile, huge investments have been made in the UAE’s
road network, with several new freeways dedicated to aiding
the flow of industrial and commercial traffic throughout
the country.
Seaports: Dubai dominates shipping
industry in the UAE with 61% of the import activity and
103 berths. Activity occurs in 2 ports: Rashid and Jebel
Ali, the largest port in the country and the largest man-made
port in the world.
